The commission

How a piece moves from idea to your room

A bespoke commission is a conversation, not a transaction. Here is what to expect, what we will ask of you, and what we promise in return.

The brief

What we ask you to bring

You do not need an interior designer, a sketch, or any furniture vocabulary. What helps us most is honesty about how the room is actually used.

  • Rough room dimensions (a phone photo of a tape measure works)
  • Two or three photos of the space, including the doorway we will need to deliver through
  • A handful of reference images you have saved — ours or anyone else's
  • One sentence on the deadline, if there is one (a baby, a move-in, an anniversary)
  • A rough budget bracket so we can recommend sensibly

The journey

Six stages, eight to ten weeks for a typical residential commission

Conversation

60 minutes at the studio (or a video call). Bring your photos and references; we will ask the awkward questions about how the space is actually lived in.

Sketch & material direction

Within five working days we send hand-drawn sketches and a fabric / wood mood-board. Free of charge, no obligation.

Drawings & quote

1:20 technical elevations, dimensioned plans, an itemised quotation valid for 30 days. Iterate freely; we re-issue at no charge.

Approval & deposit

Signed-off drawings, 50% deposit, slot booked in the workshop schedule. We give a delivery date in writing on the same day.

Build

Frame, sand, foam, upholster, finish — six to eight weeks for typical residential pieces. Progress photos at three milestones.

Deliver & install

Two-person white-glove delivery. We level, position, demonstrate care, and take all packaging away with us.

Pricing

What you actually pay for

Bespoke is often assumed to be expensive in a vague, theatrical way. We would rather show you the breakdown. A typical mid-range three-seater sofa quote looks roughly like this:

Frame & joineryRM 2,400 — FSC oak frame, mortise-and-tenon, doweled
Foam & webbingRM 1,150 — high-resilience foam, elastic webbing, feather-down topper
Upholstery labourRM 1,850 — hand-stretched, hand-finished, slip-cover construction
Cover fabricRM 1,800 — mid-grade performance linen at ~6m
Finishing & legsRM 950 — oiled walnut, solid brass tapered legs

TotalRM 8,150

After delivery

The relationship continues for the life of the piece

10y

Frame warranty

Ten years against manufacturing defects on solid-wood frames and joinery.

2y

Upholstery warranty

Two years on foam, webbing and seat suspension.

Refurbishment service

Bring the piece back at any age. We re-foam, re-cover or refinish at cost-plus rather than retail.

Records kept

Every commission is logged with frame spec, foam densities and fabric meterage so future repairs match the original.
