Furniture made for the way you actually live

From the channel-tufted sofa that softens a long evening to the dining chair built around the curve of your back, every Yottabit piece is drawn, joined and upholstered in our Glenmarie workshop — one commission at a time.

Why Yottabit

Honest joinery. Patient upholstery. Furniture that lasts a decade or three.

We are not interested in trend-driven, throwaway pieces. Our cabinetmakers learned their craft from a generation of Sarawak and Klang joiners; our upholsterers stretch every cover by hand. The result is furniture you can re-foam, re-stain and re-cover when life moves on — not landfill.

01

Drawn around you

Every commission starts with measurements of your room, your body and your daily habits. Nothing is dropped in from a catalogue.

02

Solid frames, no shortcuts

Sustainably grown solid oak, walnut and meranti, kiln-dried in Selangor, joined with mortise-and-tenon, dowel and screw — never staples-on-particle-board.

03

Re-buildable for life

Slip covers unzip. Foam swaps in 20 minutes. We keep a record of every piece so we can refurbish it in 2036 as easily as we built it today.

04

One studio, one quote

We design, build, finish, deliver and install in-house. No layers, no subcontractor surprises, no "we'll have to check with the factory".

The atelier

A small workshop, by deliberate choice

We cap our schedule at twelve commissions a month. That is a number our master joiner can personally inspect, our finisher can hand-polish, and our delivery team can install with the patience the piece deserves.

  • Twelve makers, two designers, one finisher — no sub-contracted labour
  • 1,400 sqm climate-controlled workshop in Glenmarie
  • Showroom by appointment, six days a week
  • Free delivery and installation across Klang Valley

Our process

From first sketch to installed piece in four unhurried steps

We move at the pace of getting it right, not the pace of a sales target. Most commissions take six to ten weeks from approval to delivery; complex hospitality projects, twelve to sixteen.

Listen & draw

A 60-minute studio conversation, room measurements, mood photos. We come back with sketches and material directions.

Sample & approve

A physical fabric board, finished wood samples, and a 1:20 elevation. Adjust freely; we welcome iteration.

Build in-house

Frame, foam, cover, finish — all under one Glenmarie roof. We share progress photos at three milestones.

Deliver & install

Two-person white-glove delivery anywhere in the Klang Valley; a flat-fee elsewhere in Peninsular Malaysia.

Said about us

A few words from people we have built for

The sofa they made for our living room is the only thing my husband and the dog agree on. Six years in, we asked them to re-cover it — they did it for the cost of the fabric. Try finding that in a chain store.

We brief our hospitality joiners a year out. Yottabit briefs us back — with structural concerns we hadn't considered. The banquettes have outlasted three menu changes.

I sent them a photo of my grandmother's writing desk and asked for "the same energy". They returned with sketches that felt like mine, not a copy. The finished piece sits in my study.

Questions, answered

What people usually ask before commissioning

How long does a typical bespoke piece take to build?
Most residential commissions take six to ten weeks from approved drawings to installed delivery. A single armchair sits at the shorter end; a custom dining set with eight chairs and a 2.6 m table sits at the longer. Hospitality work is quoted on its own timeline.
What is your typical starting price?
Dining chairs start around RM 1,650 each in solid oak with linen upholstery. Three-seater bespoke sofas start around RM 9,800. Bed frames with upholstered headboards from around RM 6,400. We quote every commission individually after the first studio conversation — no hidden charges, ever.
Can you work from a reference photo or a designer's drawing?
Yes — about half our private commissions begin with a photo or an interior designer's elevation. We will adapt the design to suit our joinery standards (so it actually lasts) and flag any structural or upholstery concerns before we quote.
Do you deliver outside the Klang Valley?
Yes. White-glove delivery and installation are included within Klang Valley. Penang, Ipoh, Melaka, Johor Bahru and Kuantan are flat-fee, two-person delivery. East Malaysia is quoted on freight cost; we have shipped commissions to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching several times.
What materials do you typically work with?
Solid walnut, solid white oak, FSC-certified meranti, and Malaysian-grown rubberwood for hidden frames. For upholstery we hold standing accounts with Kvadrat, Romo, Maharam and several mills in Genting Highlands — or we can specify a fabric you have already chosen.
Can a piece be re-covered or repaired in the future?
Always. Every Yottabit piece is logged with its frame specifications, foam densities and fabric meterage. Bring it back to the atelier at any age and we will re-foam, re-cover or refurbish it at cost-plus rather than retail.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes: ten years on all solid-wood frames and joinery against any manufacturing defect, two years on upholstery foam and webbing, and one year on the cover fabric we supply. The terms are spelled out clearly on every invoice.
